Professional experience

Dr. Ayuga has a degree in medicine from the University of Seville. He completed his Neurology Residency at the Toledo Hospital Complex. Subsequently he received his Doctorate Cum Laude in Medicine from the University of Castilla la Mancha (UCLM).

He has worked as an attending physician in the Neurology Service of the National Hospital of Paraplegics from 2009 to 2011. Subsequently, he has been an Assistance of the Neurology Service of the University Hospital of Toledo from 2011 to the present day. He collaborates with the Hospital Quirónsalud of Toledo from 2014 to the present, he is the coordinator of the Neurology team since January 2020.

Research and teaching

He has been a contributing author to Cochrane Epilepsy.

He has been an associate professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Castilla la Mancha from 2018 to 2020.

He is currently an associate professor at the at the Faculty of Medicine at the University Alfonso X the Wise and collaborates as a professor in the Master of Clinical Neuropsychology at the International University of La Rioja.

Dr. Ayuga has many publications in national and international journals of high scientific impact.

Stay in foreign centers

Dr. Ayuga is registered in Spain and the United Kingdom (GMC Registration 2018). There he has made several training stays in Epilepsy, one at the Walton Centre in Liverpool during his residency and another at King´s College Hospital in London, already as an attending. With them he has collaborated in different research projects and has multiple international publications.
