Doctor Antonio Brugarolas was the Director of Oncology and Associate Professor of Oncology at Navarra University between 1980 and 2000, developing a multidisciplinary medical and teaching programme, where over 30 specialists have been trained. He has led over 20 doctoral theses and is the author or co-author of over 100 publications or chapters in books on the speciality.

Since September 2000, he has developed the Platform for Oncology at Quirónsalud Torrevieja Hospital, an innovative project which brings together many qualified professionals from different specialities, with the aim of providing all oncology care with maximum results and quality.

Professional experience
  • He specialised in oncology in the USA (1969-1973), the first year as a pathology intern at Metropolitan Hospital and New York Medical College, New York and for the three subsequent years as a resident fellow at Roswell Park Cancer Institute, Buffalo, New York.
  • He was the Head of Medical Oncology at Asturias General Hospital between 1973 and 1980, creating the first facility for this speciality in Spain, and actively collaborating with different groups of the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC).
Membership in scientific societies
  • Member of European and American cancer research societies (AACR, ASCO, EORTC).
Research and teaching
  • He has led over 20 doctoral theses and is the author or co-author of over 100 publications or chapters in books on the speciality.
